(I don’t want to take credit for this. August 2007)
Stevo has tagged me for the messy desk challenge. Thanks, Stevo. Someday I may return the favor. (insert evil grin here)
As far as being tagged goes, this was pretty easy. We’ve only been home for about two weeks so I haven’t had much time to make a big mess of the area around my computer. It’s also not very big so that limits the mess on top. You don’t want to know what goes on underneath once I’ve had time to accumulate stuff.
I don’t really have a desk of my own just yet. Our youngest son is using it. As soon as he grows up and moves out, I’m taking it back. I know from past experience that having the bigger desk will mean a bigger amount of clutter to clean up on occasion.
So, what is on my desk? Not much:
- A tall glass of iced, oolong tea. Looking at it from this perspective, I’m starting to think it’s a very bad idea to perch a tall glass of iced tea near the computer.
- The book Fit From Within by Victoria Moran (because I was referring to it earlier for something else I was writing).
- A coaster from Sloppy Joe’s (a restaurant in Key West, Florida).
- A real estate listing for the house next door (which just went on the market).
- A flyer from Sage Telecom concerning long distance phone service (which reminds me that I need to do something about getting us hooked up to a land line once again).
- A note about VOIP with a url (something else I need to look into).
- The cable for uploading photos from my camera to the computer.
- Blank CD’s and envelopes for the CD’s.
- The ungainly monitor (on top of that is the stand for the camera we use to Skype with our granddaughter, but I have no idea where the camera got to…probably still in one of the unpacked boxes).
Not bad. Not bad at all. Give me another month or so and there will be Post-It notes, books, and other things cluttering up this small area. I’m sometimes amazed at how much I can fit on the top of this little table.
I would tag someone, but I’m trying to stay out of trouble for at least a little while. It’s always nice to try something new.
Therefore, I tag anyone reading who would like to play along. Otherwise, you’re safe.
And now on to the results of today’s sex experiment…
Search engine terms: Plain old “sex” is slightly less popular than feet (”ticklish feet,”"pretty feet,”"naked feet,” and the weird “wide world of feet”).
I think I made a small mistake in mentioning the My Feet post as it did cause people to look for and visit it.
It was not my best day ever in terms of visitors. I don’t think I’ll see the best day ever kind of traffic again until maybe next year when people are once again trying to figure out what to do with all their leftover Easter eggs. The number of views on my best day ever: 637. That was the result of my Red-beet Eggs post being featured by Web Zen. I was receiving about 600 visitors a day for a week or two, something that freaked me out a little as I wasn’t used to that kind of traffic, having expected this blog to live a fairly unnoticed life. Red-beet eggs is still a popular post. I guess there are a lot of people trying to figure out what to do with hard-boiled eggs.
My blog hit a bit of a milestone during today’s experiment: Total visits: 10,000. (10,044 as of 4:44 pm eastern time here in the U.S.) That’s the total visits since I started the blog, not the total for today.
It’s entirely possible that the evening and night visits will bring an entirely different set of results. I’ll let you know.

Lovely. Maybe with a smaller desktop I too would have less clutter.
Congrats on 10,000. I achieved a goal yesterday: More than 300 unique visitors in a day. (Still a long way from 10,000)
I think I need to reword that. I’ve had a grand total of 10,000 visits since I started the blog. It wasn’t all in one day.
Congrats, too, on having hit the 10,000 mark. I have a prediction; it likely won’t be too, too long before you’re at 100,000…..but that’s only because you’re so good at what you’re doing.
one “small” step for a great blogger
one giant step for those snazzy socked feet
congrats on the milestone
Thanks, Norm.
Snazzy socked feet? LOL! You’re right. They are snazzy. Thanks, Kel.
Congrats on the 10,000. I like this challenge because it’s a truly human one. I think a theme for me as of late has been mess. Seeing other peoples messes makes them all the more human in my eyes.
Oh, and I agree with you on the precariousness of the glass of tea. It’s sort of like leaving your laptop in bed next to your one year old. Precarious.
Don’t tell Stevo I said so, but I like this challenge too.
I got a chuckle out of the picture caption: I don’t want to take credit for this. August 2007
