There are three possible parts to a date, of which at least two must be offered: entertainment, food, and affection. It is customary to begin a series of dates with a great deal of entertainment, a moderate amount of food, and the merest suggestion of affection. As the amount of affection increases, the entertainment can be reduced proportionately. When the affection is the entertainment, we no longer call it dating. Under no circumstances can the food be omitted. ~Miss Manners’ Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behaviour
I realize this is not a typical post from me. I’m experimenting a little, trying to see if I can knock “My Feet” off the Top Posts list.
Besides, I like the leaf in the background, and that quote practically asked to go with that photo. I’m not really sure what the beetles are up to. They could be playing or fighting for all I know about beetles and their habits (although I don’t think it takes much in the way of anthropomorphizing to think otherwise).
Edit: I decided to look into beetle behavior (probably should’ve done that prior to posting). I think it’s pretty likely those two beetles in the photo are mating. The females mate, feed, and lay eggs, a cycle that goes on throughout the summer until the female has laid 40 to 60 eggs. The first mating usually takes place on the ground with the males lining up to get it on with the new female as she emerges in the spring. After that, they mate pretty much anywhere, especially on food plants. They’re rather promiscuous little creatures, both males and females mating several times with different partners throughout the mating season.

lol
an experiment! You and H. and I should compare notes and see how our blog-hussying turns out.
They’re interesting looking, with those stripey bits on the sides. Nice catch.
I think I’m lacking some of the key words and phrases to bring on real traffic, but maybe a picture really is worth a thousand words.
The real test is to see if it knocks the foot fetishists out of the park.
You guys are so funny. Are feet really a big draw? I should try an experiment of my own and do a photo essay on my feet. LOL….maybe not. Maybe…..
They seem to draw more people than plain old sex, from the looks of things today.
Go for it, bibliomom. LOL!
Robin I have a concept in my head for a foot post but I’ll need to give myself a little time to pull it all together. I think it will make you laugh though. It won’t be today but I’ll give you a heads up when it’s done.
Foot fetishists are a very large internet niche. I had a coworker we used to kid about having a foot fetish. I was amazed at the number of sites after Googling “feet” to find images to harass him with.
Amuirin: I didn’t really notice those stripey bits until you mentioned it. I actually kind of like this photo, but wasn’t quite sure what to do with it. There are all kinds of things going on in this photo, at least to my eye.
Bibliomom: I’m looking forward to your foot post. But don’t say I didn’t warn you. lol
Stevo: Much larger than I would have expected. Amazing.
Looking to whore some traffic? Two words. Britney Spears. Believe us.
Nice blog. But then, any friend of amuirin is a friend of ours.
Peace.
lol!
Good advice. No doubt that would bring them in by the droves. Better yet, Britney’s feet.
Thanks for dropping by. amuirin has some interesting friends.
I’m pleased to announce this morning that “Sex” did knock “My Feet” off the Top Posts list. Amuirin had something to do with that through her Seven Dwarf Meme.
Thanks, amuirin. Your creativity worked wonders.
