(Bonfire in the Bogs. 2006)
The whole universe is symbolically seated about a communal fire called life — a fire that we all share in the darkness of our isolation, that courses through all veins, that maintains the life of even stones and plants and all that we seldom think of as living. It is a fire that burns in all times and places.

Edit: I’ve looked at this photo several times but it was only when I posted it here that I saw the smokey face coming out of the right side of the fire. It almost looks like a side view of the tree people.

Wow! Most pictures of fire seem so un-fire like to me. This one seems fire-like.
I finished that book. I don’t have time to email about it today. I did enjoy it.
Great Picture!
Thanks truddle and HW.
I enjoyed the book too, HW.
Regarding the picture: Great picture. You take awesome picture. Where are the marshmallows?
Regarding the book: I’m glad to hear you guys liked the book. What I liked best about the book was the reading of it. Doesn’t that sound silly? But I enjoyed reading it. The act. The process. It was a good book.
I see the face, too. It looks pensive and not at all scary.
bibliomom: That doesn’t sound silly at all. I enjoy the act and process of reading too.
ybonesy: Pensive is a good word for it.
I just love this picture.
And the face? Have you ever seen ‘Howl’s Moving Castle’, Robin? We like so much of the same things, you might like that film. It’s animated, and at first seems very weird but it gets just kinda magical. Surreal.
Anyway, there’s a flame in it… that talks. It keeps the fire going so howl’s moving castle can move. Looks like that fire face showed up for your picture.
Is that an anime film, amuirin? I think I have that in my Netflix queue. I’ll have to go check because I know it’s one of those films I wanted to see.
Robin- Yep, it’s one of Miyazaki’s films; the guy who created Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.
Howl’s Moving Castle is my favorite, though.
