I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape — the loneliness of it — the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show.
~ Andrew Wyeth
I think I may have used this Wyeth quote last winter. I’m not sure it matters, as I’ve noticed different pictures sway the quotes different ways.
Or maybe it’s just me.
Andrew Wyeth is my favorite artist. His winter scenes awe and amaze me. Stark, yet filled with life. Or the potential for life.
I wish I could capture with the camera what he captures on the canvas.
Then again, Mr. Wyeth did have this to say about winter:
God, I’ve frozen my ass off painting snow scenes!
I would imagine so.
