This post is dedicated to my guide to Torrey Pines, TPGoddess (which, of course, stands for Torrey Pines Goddess).
I’m not going to bother with captions. All of the photos were taken by me at the Torrey Pines State Natural Preserve during the short hike I took with TPG on the Guy Fleming Trail. I wish I could have gone back again to hike some of the other trails during our trip, but they’ll have to wait until our next visit. It’s a gorgeous area and I can see why TPG loves it so.
Torrey Pines is one of those places I wish I could explore over and over again on a daily basis. I can’t imagine ever getting tired of going there as I think the changes over the seasons and over time must be fascinating…
… and beautiful.
And here she is, the Torrey Pines Goddess herself:
I hope to get to Part 2 soon. I have some lovely close-ups of some of the flowers and there was a little lizard that posed for me. However, it’s growing season here in the Bogs and I’m busy with gardening along with the usual care of my home and family.
On top of that I’ve been working on my website (which I’ll unveil soon but someone with an eye for detail might find it before I make the official announcement) and learning Photoshop CS3. Oh the joy of that! (Said in a sarcastic tone of voice.) It was like entering an alien world where I had no idea how to speak the language or if there even was a language to be spoken.
The good news is that I’ve discovered the Rosetta Stone of Photoshop (aka a good tutorial). I finally know where the tools are hidden, and have a slight grasp on the concept of layers. I have a long way to go, though, and that’s taking up huge chunks of what spare time I can find.
In other words, I’ll be back with Part 2 of Torrey Pines as soon as I can get it all together. In the meantime, I might put up a photo or two of the garden.

Oh, I love those smoothish, craggy stone hills. They look ancient. I could hike in that area and lose myself in it all with exploring. Lovely captures. 🙂
By the way, I’m scared to death of Photoshop CS3….Argh! You are brave, very brave learning it. You haven’t pulled all your hair out of your head yet, have you? LOL 🙂
LOL, Anna! No, I’m not bald yet. If that good tutorial hadn’t come along when it did (my son gave it to me), I might have destroyed the computer in my frustration. I spent two hours with a bad tutorial in which I learned nothing and was left with the nagging thought that I might be stupid. Now I know it was the tutorial that was stupid. 🙂
Oh, to have the freedom to go there daily!! I *will* be a docent one day. We were blessed with one of those absolutely clear and gorgeous spring days. Wow. I’m sitting here at my basement desk right across the street from a trail head and just DYING to get out there!!!!
I’ll be back later tonight with the name of the white flower… 🙂
Beautiful scenery. How close to the golf course?
awaiting the unveiling of your website with much anticipation
Brian – the trails are due north of the golf course. The US Open was played on the South Course which is about 1/2 mile away from the nearest trail entrance, but the North Course (used in the weekday rounds of the Buick event), ends up at the northern edge of the trails.
Thanks for answering Brian’s question, TPGoddess. I knew the trails weren’t too far from the course, but didn’t know how far.
Kel: It could be a while. I keep messing things up. It’s an interesting way to learn, but I don’t necessarily recommend it. 🙂
All these challenges. Funny the parallels, Robin. I’m playing the website/Photoshop game too, and not having as much fun and games as I had hoped. Be all better soon, I keep saying, like it’s a big ow-ie that will heal soon! 🙂
LOL, Bo! It IS a bit like a big ow-ie, isn’t it?
